Dancer Spotlight: Leah Nelson '25

What is the best thing about being back in person? Is there anything that

surprised you about being in the studio?

To me, the best thing about being back in person is that all of the

dancers in the room can feed off of each other's energy. I was

surprised at the amount of space in the rooms that we had all gotten so

used to not using.

What is your favorite thing about LACHSA right now?

Right now, my favorite thing about LACHSA is how the creative

energy is brought into all of our classes including the academics. It’s

nice to have the opportunity to bring everyone's arts into our academic

classes.

What are your goals for this year as a Dance Major?

This year I would like to focus on building my personal style and

artistry, while also staying focused on my technique.

What is something you’re looking forward to experiencing this year as a

Dance major?

I am looking forward to being pushed in all of my classes, and

learning how to adapt to different teaching styles and even new styles

of dance.



What is your favorite food?

My favorite food will always be chocolate.


What is your favorite color?

My favorite color is burgundy.


What is your astrological sign?

I am a Scorpio sun, sagittarius moon, and aquarius rising.


Do you have an outside hobby?

I love fashion design, and I also like creating makeup designs.


What is your favorite type of music to listen to?

My favorite types of music to listen to would be really sad songs or

alternative music.

What is your favorite type of music to dance to?

My favorite type of music to dance to is really sad songs with an upbeat chorus.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

If I had one superpower it would be to be able to solve any problem of any kind.


Do you have any future summer plans that are dance related? Any summer

intensives? Competitions? Workshops? Etc.

I have Adrenaline Nationals for my dance studio this summer. I am

also looking for a summer intensive or workshop based in

choreography, and learning how to choreograph.

What advice would you give your future senior self?

Advice that I would give to my future senior self is to keep going for

your goals even if they seem unrealistic to others. It might turn out

better than you could’ve imagined.
