Dancer Spotlight: Tess Barthelemy '23

What is the best. thing about being back in person?

The best thing about being back in person is being able to perform on a big stage and being able to dance next to all the other dancers, the connection I was really missing when we were dancing on zoom.


What is your favorite thing about LACHSA right now?

My favorite thing about LACHSA is the people and the amount of passion everyone has for what they are doing which makes me extremely inspired to do my best in whatever I am working on.


What are your goals next year as a Senior Dance Major?

My goals for next year as a dance major is discovering my own voice as a dancer and choreographer and how I can implemented more of myself in what I do, Next year I am looking forward to creating more pieces and staging them on the dancers in my class.


What is your favorite food?

My favorite food is an impossible question as I’m the least picky eater but probably sushi.



Favorite color?

My favorite color really depends on my current mindset but right now it’s been consistently dark green.


What's your astrological sign?

I am an Aries and I have no idea what that really means for me.


Do you have an outside hobby?

Outside of school I love to see my friends and hang out with my dogs Sunday and Shankar.


What is your favorite type of music to listen to?

My favorite type of music to listen really varies between genres but I would say in the moment Kendrick Lamar’s new album.


What is your favorite type of music to dance to?

My favorite type of music to dance to would be super sad emotional songs that I can just cry and dance to at the same time.


Do you have any summer plans that are Dance related?

Over the summer I am going to Paris where I will be dancing Ballet.

Knowing what you know now, what advice would you give your freshman self?

As an incoming senior I would tell my freshmen self not to be so critical of myself, because I wasted so much time comparing myself to everyone else when I could have been doing way more productive things with my time.
