FAVORITE THING ABOUT ONLINE?
My favorite thing about being online is all the extra time I have now that I don’t need to commute to LACHSA every day. This has been so great for taking more dance classes, getting all my work done, and most importantly was super helpful while doing college applications.
HARDEST THING ABOUT ONLINE?
The hardest thing about being online has been maintaining my connections with people and staying motivated. I am someone who is pushed to work harder when around my peers, so that has been pretty difficult.
WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ONCE WE ARE IN PERSON?
I am most looking forward to just being with my class again and hopefully dancing in the same room as them before we all go our separate ways.
HOW HAVE YOU ADAPTED ONLINE?
Adapting to online was hard, but something that helped me was trying to balance not only school work and dance, but to also find time to do other things for myself. I have also had to work on my time management a lot.
OUTSIDE HOBBY?
Over quarantine, I taught myself how to embroider and started making bags and clothes.
FAVORITE THING ABOUT LACHSA RIGHT NOW?
My favorite thing about LACHSA right now would have to be the teachers. They are all very considerate of our situations and are doing their best to make it easier on everyone.
FAVORITE DANCE CLASS?
I have loved every single dance class at LACHSA, but my favorite would probably be Horton with Yuka. I always feel good and stronger after taking her class and it has been really amazing to continue learning the technique all four years.
FAVORITE LACHSA MEMORY?
My absolute favorite LACHSA memory is when I was in musical theatre my junior year and we put on Jesus Christ Superstar. It was such a dance-heavy show and everything about it was just so much fun. I made so many new friends and learned so much.
PLANS FOR FUTURE/COLLEGE
After I graduate, I plan to attend college and earn my BFA in dance. Whatever I do after that will come with time, but some things I hope to accomplish are a career on Broadway or a touring company and screendance work.
WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE INCOMING FRESHMAN AND SOPHMORES YOU WISH YOU HAD?
Some advice I would give to the incoming freshman and sophomores is to not take your time at LACHSA for granted because it really goes by so fast. Always live in the moment, take care of yourself both physically and mentally, and just enjoy the journey.
