Student Spotlight: Hazel Stover-White 22'

Hazel Stover-White

NAME, GRADE, PRONOUNS?

Hazel Stover-White, 11th grade, she/her.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT ONLINE?

My favorite thing about online classes is the flexibility of being able to get a break when you really need it. I forgot how fast pace in person was because we were simply accustomed to it, but with online classes, I can not imagine going in a fast pace.

HARDEST THING ABOUT ONLINE?

Trying to stay focused has to be the hardest thing about online learning. It is so easy to get distracted by whatever is going on at home, or on your phone, or even other websites on the computer. It was easier to be in a learning environment when in person rather than a sleeping and chill environment of home.

MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO WHEN WE ARE IN PERSON?

I honestly am so excited to see my friends the most. FaceTime and Zoom can never compare to seeing my friends beautiful faces, hearing their dumb laughs and feeling their wonderful motivating energy.

OUTSIDE HOBBY?

I have taken on so many different things like painting, drawing, jewelry making and I even have two jobs now since I don’t take outside dance classes.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT LACHSA?

My favorite thing about LACHSA is the feeling you get when you see everyone passionate about their art. There are always ups and downs at any school, but it shows that everyone loves what they do at LACHSA.

FAVORITE DANCE CLASS?

My favorite dance class is Horton/Dunham/Graham. I love modern so much and continuing it at LACHSA has always been very fun, especially with Ms. Yuka and Ms. Anindo.

WHAT IS IT LIKE IN COMP CLASS?

Personally, comp is difficult because I struggle with improv and creating choreography but it has been so helpful with coming with ideas as well as tactics and movement to build my vocabulary and my dance pallet.
