FAVORITE THING ABOUT ONLINE?

With online education, I have been able to spend a lot more time with my family, which has been really nice.

HARDEST THING ABOUT ONLINE?

It’s very difficult to find motivation to do work, especially with the constant need to look at the computer screen.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST LOOKING FORWARD TO ONCE WE ARE IN PERSON?

Once in person, I am just excited to spend time with other people in the same room. Dancers need to feel the energy of each other, and that is something that you can’t get when we are learning online.

HOW HAVE YOU ADAPTED ONLINE?

I have learned a lot of new ways of digesting new information as well as new ways that I can utilize the computer that I didn’t know how to use before.

OUTSIDE HOBBY?

My favorite thing to do when I’m not in school or dancing is to collage and paint. I have also been journaling a lot and sending letters to my friends.

FAVORITE THING ABOUT LACHSA RIGHT NOW?

I really appreciate my peers and how willing they are to help me and care for me whenever I need them.

FAVORITE DANCE CLASS?

Honestly I love all of the classes I am taking this year. I will have to say that I especially love my ballet class because I have never really had a good relationship with ballet until this year; Fiona is such a gem and an amazing teacher.

FAVORITE LACHSA MEMORY?

My favorite Lachsa memory is going to Pittsburgh for the National High School Dance Festival. Spending time with my friends, taking incredible classes, performing in a huge theater, and watching life-changing performances--what more can you ask for?

PLANS FOR FUTURE/COLLEGE

I am still undecided at the moment with which college I will be attending. Although, I will say that I want to expand the dance community and combine my love for the art with research in the cognitive science field and see what I can discover.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE INCOMING FRESHMAN AND SOPHMORES YOU WISH YOU HAD?

DO NOT COMPARE YOURSELF! This is such an important lesson that I am still working on telling myself and truly living by it. I know it is hard, but the more you judge other people and the more you judge yourself in turn the unhealthier your brain will be. It is really easy to let other people get in the way of your progress, but know that you are on your own journey and you are just as valid as a dancer and a person as everyone else is!
