Dancer Spotlight: Danica Rayne Preciado, '25

Danica Rayne Preciado

9th Grade, 2025

She/Her

What is the best thing about being back in person? Is there anything that surprised you about being in the studio?

I love being back in person because I feel like it’s hard to adjust to dancing in such small spaces. Because this is my first year at LACHSA, I am just in awe of everything. I’m really enjoying my time here!

What is your favorite thing about LACHSA right now?

I love the people here at LACHSA. Everyone has such a cool vibe and aesthetic. I also feel like I fit in because we are all artists.

What are your goals for this year as a Dance Major?

I aim to have more knowledge about different dance techniques that I haven’t learned yet. I hope to improve my artistry and technique this year and the years to come.

What is something you’re looking forward to experiencing this year as a Dance major?

I’m really looking forward to our shows! I’ve watched previous performances and I’m really excited to finally be a part of them!

What is your favorite food?

Pasta

What is your favorite color?

Purple!

What is your astrological sign?

Capricorn!

Do you have an outside hobby?

I love to cook, bake, and travel.

What is your favorite type of music to listen to?

My music taste changes all the time. But I will always enjoy some good ol’ classical pop/jazz. Frank Sinatra, Julie London, Billie Holiday, Etta James, Nat King Cole, and Ella Fitzgerald for example.

What is your favorite type of music to dance to?

I don’t really have a preference for music because I feel like the music I listen to can challenge me to create something, but something with a good, prominent beat that allows for isolation stands out for me.

If you could have one superpower, what would it be and why?

I would want to have the ability to stop time because I really like to be early and I despise being late. I would also like to have telekinesis just because I want the things around me to move around, just like a dance!

Do you have any future summer plans that are dance related? Any summer intensives? Competitions? Workshops? Etc.

I will be attending several competitions, conventions, and intensives in the spring and the summer, and I’m currently working on my applications for several intensives.

What advice would you give your future senior self?

I would tell my senior self to embrace who she is as a dancer and person. I hope my senior self is dancing for herself and not anyone else and I hope she realizes that she shouldn’t dance for validation or to impress anyone. The world is your stage!
